Description
Mario Marenco for Comfortline, lounge chair, leather, molded polyurethane, Italy, 1980s
A postmodern club chair created by the Italian designer and actor Mario Marenco (1933-2019). With a rather unconvential form, this piece is a sculpture in itself and can therefore be used as a visual statement in one’s interior. The concave platform, on which the seat rests, is an ingenious feature that allows you to adjust the angle of the seat to one’s own requirement. Marenco moved away from the conventional notions of rigid structures that put focus on pre-established positions. Instead, the sitter ‘sinks’ into the deep groove, allowing the arms to dangle along the side openings. An atypical construction that is radical in approach and developed within a geometric layout.
