Description

Franco Albini and Franca Helg for Arteluce, Ochetta wall lights model ‘141’, metal, frosted glass, Italy, 1962.
The Ochetta wall lights, designed by Franco Albini and Franca Helg in 1962 and produced by Arteluce, are striking examples of Italian modernist lighting design. Each fixture features a discreet wall-mounted plate from which a slender stem rises to support an oval glass shade. The shade itself is divided into two halves: one in warm brown glass, the other in softly frosted glass. The orientation of the shade can be adjusted to preference, allowing the frosted side to face either upward or downward, subtly altering the diffusion of light.
The provenance of these pieces is exceptionally well-documented. They were originally installed in an office building in Parma, Italy, designed in the 1960s by the Italian architect Aurelio Cortesi. Further details are available upon request.
